17 JANUARY, THURSDAY.

Popular broadcaster and host of Peace FM’s flagship programme ‘Kokrokoo’, Kwami Sefa Kayi has declined his appointment as a member of the Communication and Promotion Committee of the Ghana Football Association’s (GFA) adhoc committee.

The Normalization Committee of the GFA on Tuesday, January 15, 2019 inaugurated six ad hoc committees to help the Normalization Committee execute its mandate.
The Committees are; Domestic Leagues, Communication and Promotion, Technical and Development, National Teams, Marketing and Sponsorship, Referees Committee and Sponsorship Committee.
Mr. Sefa Kayi was listed as member of the Communication and Promotion Committee with TV Presenter Paul Adom Otchere tasked to Chair the Committee.
Other names of the Committee are Ekow Asmah-Vice Chairman, Albert Sam, Ebo Quansah, Tamimu Issah and Ohene Brenya who are all members.
Mr. Sefa Kayi, in a statement copied to Peacefmonline.com, declined his membership saying “regretfully, I have to decline membership of this committee . . . I wasn’t consulted in any way.”

He asked the GFA Normalization Committee to give the vacant position to other well-deserving and competent people in Sports.
” . . I’m taken aback that for such an important assignment, my approval or otherwise wasn’t discussed with me yet my name was put out there. Secondly, I believe there are more knowledgeable and competent people in the field of Sports and football journalism who when given the opportunity, can make more meaningful contributions to the way forward for the beautiful game . . kindly accept my apologies,” he concluded.
Speaking during the inauguration, President of the GFA Normalization Committee Dr Kofi Amoah, described members of the ad hoc committees as “experienced people with a wide range of experience”.
Dr Amoah was confident members of the committees would bring their rich experiences to bear by making incisive inputs which would help reform Ghana football.
