Teachers need to be celebrated -Deputy Education Minister

The Deputy Minister for Education and a Member of Parliament for Assin South Constituency, Rev. Ntim Fordjour is calling on Ghanaians to embrace the World Teachers Day commemoration to make it a memorable one.

According to him, the contribution of teachers to the nation’s development is a remarkable one and needs to be celebrated.

Ghana joins the rest of the world today to commemorate the 2022 International Teachers Day on the theme: “The Transformation of education begins with teachers”.

The theme “The Transformation of Education Begins with Teachers is aimed at taking stock of achievements and raising awareness around challenges facing teachers and the role of teachers in the achievement of the global education targets.”

In an interview on OK FM and monitored by ATLFMNEWS, Rev. Ntim Fordjour said teachers are the major contributors to the growth and development of the country.

To him, it is important that everyone makes a conscious effort today to celebrate teachers who have played a role in helping them achieve success in their lives.

He said “It is Teachers’ day today and everyone must make time even if it’s 30 seconds, or a minute or 2, send a message or call your teachers and thank them. Even if it’s not money, just a call from you will encourage them to know they are loved.”

He said as part of the celebration, the Ministry of Education and Ghana Education Service has instituted several awards in recognition of teachers’ services.

Ghana will commemorate the day today at Tamale in the Northern Region.

The day is co-convened in partnership with the International Labour Organization (ILO), UNICEF and Education International (EI).
