Political class being raped by criminals – Okudzeto Ablakwa cries

Member of Parliament (MP) for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has bemoaned how criminals play politicians against each other.

He explained that, anyone criminal quickly aligns himself with a political party and its members quickly jumps to his defends and the criminal goes scot-free.

The North Tongu MP’s comment follows the political football being played between the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) over the Menzgold matter.

The NDC is blaming the NPP for associating with the embattled Chief Executive Officer of the firm, Nana Appiah Mensah popularly known as NAM 1 to dupe people.

The NPP in a rebuttal also accuses the opposition party of giving NAM 1 the oxygen to operate.

This position taken by the two leading political parties have made the issue murkier – making the issue a ‘foolish case’.

But speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Tuesday, Hon. Okudzeto Ablakwa described as unfortunate how politicians allow themselves to be used by criminals.

He said instead of playing the blame game in the Menzgold issue, government should focus on putting in place to retrieve the monies from NAM 1.

Okudzeto Ablakwa who is also a ranking Member of Parliament’s Foreign Affairs Committee called for a bi-partisan inquiry into the issue of embattled gold dealership firm Menzgold.

Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa said with such an inquiry, all of the murkiness, the clout and mystery surrounding the operations of the company and its wanted CEO, Nana Appiah Mensah will be unravelled.
