The Member of Parliament for Nadoli-Kaleo, Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, has criticized former President John Dramani Mahama over his comments describing the opposition party as having a revolutionary background.

In a Facebook post the NDC presidential aspirant wrote, the Second Deputy Speaker of Parliament described the comments of the former president as utterly stupid, and that such a trait is foreign to the NDC as a party. Mr. Bagbin indicated that it is rather Mr. Mahama who is violent and not the NDC as a party.
‘’Such utter stupidity. NDC is never a violent party. With such comments, does it come to you as a surprise as to why we lost the 2016 elections miserably? NDC needs a candidate who reasons, offers Ghanaians hope and represents a difference from 2016. With ASK Bagbin as your candidate, you don’t need to match anyone boot-for-boot, set the country on fire, and kill thousands of Ghanaians before winning the 2020 elections’’ the post on Mr Bagbin said.
In the wake of the violence that erupted during the Ayawaso West Wuogon by-elections which took place on 31st January, 2019, former President John Dramani Mahama has reacted to the issues with threats of violence and mayhem in the 2020 elections.
The former Ghanaian leader reminded the NPP administration of how the NDC was formed and reiterated the point that the party was formed out of a revolution. He said this phenomenon makes members of the party not aliens to bringing violence and that the NDC under his leadership will meet the NPP boot-for-boot in the 2020 elections.
‘’We are not going to joke in 2020 and I am sounding a warning to the NPP, we are going to match them boot-for-boot. Let me remind them that NDC has revolutionary roots, and that when it comes to unleashing violence, nobody can beat us in unleashing violence’’, former President Mahama threatened in a video which has since gone viral.
Former President Mahama’s comments have drawn criticisms from many Ghanaians including the clergy, civil society organizations and individuals. The Chairman of the Peace Council, Rev. Prof. Emmanuel Asante has called on the former President to apologize to Ghanaians for stating that the NDC will cause mayhem in the 2020 elections. To Rev. Asante, such sanguinary comments should not be coming from a former president and someone who seeks to lead the country once again.
The experienced Legislator is calling on the delegates of the NDC to reject the candidature of Mr. Mahama as his election to lead the party would not meet the approval of the masses.Source: newsroomgh.com
