Manhyia District Hospital in the Kumasi Metropolis of the Ashanti region has today Wednesday, 26 August, 2020 benefited from the benevolence of the Zongo Development Fund.
The gesture is intended to help the facility to sustain protocols adopted against COVID-19.
The items donated includes Aprons, coverall, (300 pieces), cover-ups, (300pieces), gloves, (1000 pieces), nose masks, (2000 pieces), sanitizers, liquid soaps, (50 boxes), among others, which amounted to over 30 thousand Ghana cedis.
Presenting the equipment at a short ceremony held at the hospital premises on behalf of the Sector Minister Hon. Dr. Mustapha Hamid and the Chief Executive Officer of the fund, Mr Arafat Sulemana Abdalai, Mr. Abdul Majeed Adams who is the Director of Programs for Zongo Development fund, in an interview with brightwebtv.com correspondent said, the fund was inspired by the need to adequately prepare the health workers to fight COVID-19 since most of the zongo populace seek health conditions at the Hospital.
Mr.Abdul Majeed ceased the occasion to advise the general public that, the pandemic is a global problem which must be tackled together, urging them to adhere to the COVID 19 Protocols which includes, hand washing, mask wearing, sanitizer use, social distancing among others.
He therefore assured them that, the Ministry will do their possible best to help stop the spread of the virus in the Zongo communities
Receiving the items on behalf of the Hospital management, Dr. Michael Opoku who is a medical sergeant and Clinical Coordinator at the Manhyia District hospital, commended the ministry for this laudable gesture and assured that, the PPE would be used for the intended purpose in order to protect both health workers and persons who will visit the hospital from contracting the disease.
