Ghana’s Ambassador to the United States (US), Dr Baffour Adjei Bawuah, says the ‘Year of Return’ has been a success more especially in the United States of America.
According to Dr Bawuah, the ‘Year of Return, Ghana 2019’, which is a year-long celebration to mark 400 years of the arrival of the first enslaved Africans in Jamestown, Virginia, has heightened the projection of Ghana’s rich culture and values to the world.
“The ‘Year of Return’ is still on and has so far been a success, especially on the international front,” he said.
Speaking in an interview on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen show, Dr Bawuah disclosed that there were series of exciting events to climax the celebration.
“I am praying and hoping Ghana doesn’t explode in December because a lot of people are eager to come for the climax of the celebration and it will be too late to book for a hotel now,” he said.
The ‘Year of Return’, Ghana 2019 celebrates the cumulative resilience of all the victims of the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade who were scattered and displaced through the world in North America, South America, the Caribbean, Europe and Asia 400 years ago.
