24 Chinese Prevented From Entering Ghana Over Coronavirus

Twenty Four[24] Nationals who tried to enter Ghana from the epicentre of the Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in Asia were prevented from entering Ghana Tuesday night, [March 17, 2020].

This was in compliance with the travel advisory directive issued by the government of Ghana to help combat the spread of COVID-19.

The Comptroller-General of Immigration (CGI), Lawyer Kwame Asuah-Takyi disclosed this at a press briefing by the Ministry of Information on Wednesday [18th March, 2020]

He said details of the travellers who were en route to Ghana on a Chinese flight were confirmed which triggered the action to deny them entry.

The Ghana Health Service has confirmed cases of Coronavirus in the country to 7 as of 18th March, 2020.

The Ghana Health Service added that they are actively tracing all persons who may have come into contact with the latest patient, as well as the six previous patients.

So far there are no deaths in all the seven confirmed cases, according to the Ghana Health Service.
