Let’s support the world of health with all our hearts _Ghana Red Cross President urges.

The National president of the Ghana Red Cross Society,Mr Kwame Gyimah Akwafo has urged all health workers across the globe especially in Ghana to support the world of health with all their hearts regarding the ‘World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day’ celebration on every 8th May in every year.

According to Gyimah in an interview with brightwebtv correspondent, Sarkodie Samel he stated this as a result of the theme for the program this year which states “Everything we do comes from the heart”.

“The World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day is celebrated globally to celebrate the uniqueness and unity of International Red Cross and Red Crescent movement,he said.

“This day every year is also dedicated to staff and volunteers of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement that are reaching and supporting people affected by natural hazards,poverty and social exclusion,and numerous humanitarian crises we are confronted with across the world.

“The day is also dedicated to alleviating human suffering, upholding human dignity, protecting lives,and preventing emergencies and natural disasters such as flood, epidemics,and earthquakes by educating the general public,he added.

He further stated that, the World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day is celebrated to honor the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement founder ‘Henry Dunant’,who was born on this same day in
1828.

Mr Akwafo continued by applauding all workers of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement across the globe and entreated them to work harder to continue to support lives”.

“We also appreciate all our partners who have been supporting the motive of the Movement such as The Ministry of Health and Ghana Health Service,Nestle Ghana,Coca Cola Foundation,Ecobank,Iran Clinic,and the Media fraternity for their wonderful work”.

He finally called on government of Ghana and other stakeholders to support the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement to motivate the workers in anyway they can to make their work easier.
