NAM 1 washing dishes in UK to pay customers – Menzgold spokesperson

By Nana Asare Barimah

The spokesperson for failing gold dealership firm, Menzgold says the company’s CEO, Nana Appiah Mensah has travelled abroad to work in order to repay customers locked up investments.

Nii Armah Amarteifio denies that his boss has absconded with investor funds, leaving workers to bear the brunt of angry customers.

He explained that the only reason NAM1, as he is popularly known, has only gone out of town is in search of money to pay the customers their investments.

“He has travelled outside the shores of Ghana and is working to make sure that he gets money to come and pay our customers.

“Is the money here? Can we get the money here” if our CEO has travelled outside to work and get money to pay our customers, may I know what is wrong with that,” he queried on Joy FM’s news programme Top Story.

The Circuit Court on Wednesday issued an arrest warrant for the embattled businessman after his investment company failed to refund customer’s monies after the Security and Exchanges Commission (SEC) declared its operations illegal.

The warrant said NAM1 is wanted for defrauding by false pretence. He is also wanted for money laundering. He is wanted together with one Rose Tetteh, believed to be his wife and Benedicta Appiah, said to be his sister.

There are reports the man who once rubbed shoulders with top politicians, celebrities and owns a private jet has absconded with his family.

But Mr Amarteifio said such reports are untrue.

He says his boss is deeply concerned about the plight of his customers and would not rest until he gives them what is rightfully theirs.

Although he was unable to tell exactly where his boss is, Mr Amarteifio said it will be preposterous to think he has absconded.

He added that there is a purpose for which a warrant has been issued for his arrest and “let’s allow the police to work.”

Customers of the company have been on many protests to demand the payment of their investments

New Payment Schedule

Mr Amarteifio also disclosed that the company is working on a new payment schedule to allow the payment of clients’ funds to them.

“At this point in time, we have no option than to pay our customers. We are coming out with a final payment schedule…we are engaging other stakeholders and other government institutions and when we agree, we can publish the final payment schedule and pay the customers.”

He urged customers to be patient and allow them time to work on the new schedule for them to be paid.
