Breaking news: Kantanka Automobile given 10 year tax and import duty holiday by government

Government of Ghana has given Kantanka Automobile a 10 year tax holiday and duty free import of the materials for assembling and manufacturing purposes.

It was announced by the CEO of Kantanka Group of Companies Nana Kwadjo Safo Ankofena Jnr at the end of year party and awards ceremony held at his residence.

Kantanka Automobile is a Ghanaian car manufacturing company that manufactures the Kantanka range of cars. Last year, some sections of Ghanaians expressed anger over government inviting foreign car makers like Volkswagen and Nissan to assemble cars in Ghana when it could have helped a locally owned car company develop.

Later it was revealed by Kantanka that its cars were expensive because it paid same duty as imported cars even though it manufactured its cars locally and only imported a few parts and materials.

This tax break will come as a welcome surprise and shows government commitment to growing indigenous companies.

Apostle engineer Kwadwo Safo, leader of the Christo Asafo mission is the owner of the Kantanka group of companies and among the cars it produces are Mensah, a saloon car and Onantefoc.
