Three suspected armed robbers who allegedly slashed the wrist of a 26-year-old hairdresser to take her mobile phone in Sunyani, have been arrested.

The victim, whose name has been withheld by the police, has been taken to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in Kumasi due to the severity of the wound. The wrist was nearly severed.

The suspects, who are being processed for court, were said to have used a sharp knife to cut the left wrist of the lady at Dream Field in Sunyani, leaving her with a gaping wound.

Bono Region Police PRO, Chief Inspector Augustine Kingsley Oppong said “they were trying to rob the lady who did not give in; she resisted a little and they used a sharp knife to cut the wrist”.

Leader of the three suspected robbers, 23-year-old Adramani Amadu, according to the Police, was earlier arrested for robbing a lady in July and put before court but he was granted bail.

“On 6th of September, the same guy who was granted bail at the court, organised two guys” to rob the hairdresser.

The names of the two have been given as Godwin Amakye alias Taller, 20 and Kwaku Nsor.

They took from their victim, Infinix Hot 4 mobile phone.

Chief Inspector Oppong said the victim identified the three suspects during an identification parade of some eight persons, including two women, who were arrested for various crimes.

According to him a brown school bag retrieved from the suspects contained eight assorted mobile phones including that of the hairdresser, four MTN and three Vodafone SIM cards, a motorbike key, lighter and a sharp knife.

“The suspects admitted to the offence and led the police to the scene to demonstrate how they robbed the victim,” Chief Inspector Oppong added.

Though he said the police will not relent in their efforts in fighting crime in the region, it has asked the public to be “alert and vigilant” and also not walk alone in isolated places, particularly at night.
