Second accused person in Ruth Eshun murder case released from prison custody

A second accused person linked to the murder of nurse Ruth Eshun has been released from prison custody, a district court at Asokwa has heard.

Kofi Gariba’s bail application was granted after his lawyers moved to a High Court in Kumasi to push for his release.

His accomplice, Dominic Fosu, had earlier been granted a ¢100,000 bail after his lawyer Kingsley Nsiah-Aboagye Esq went to a High Court to request same.

The two are in court following the killing of Eshun, a community health nurse who was stationed at the Sewua Health Center in the Bosomtwe District of the Ashanti Region in February this year.

On Tuesday, June 16, 2020, the case was adjourned again to July 9, 2020 when lawyers for the accused persons were unavailable in court presided over by H/H Korkor Owusu-Akyaw.

News about the death of the 37-year-old nurse shook the entire nation as Ghanaians launched a serious campaign for the arrest and prosecution of the suspects.

She survived with a husband, Kwadwo Arhin and three children, who have been frequenting the court to observe proceedings as they demand justice for his slain wife and mother.

“We are monitoring the case, but investigations appear slow,” Kwadwo Arhin said during a presentation by the Community Health Nurses Association of Ghana on May 1.

“It will be my biggest joy if perpetrators of this heinous crime are brought to book and I know my departed wife will rejoice wherever she is,” the teary-eyed widower said during the event.
