New Patriotic Party (NPP) Chairman for the Ahafo region, Kwabena Owusu Sekyere and two others have been dragged before an Accra Circuit court over their alleged involvement in a car fraud.
According a copy of an affidavit sighted by MyNewsGh.com, one Kwasi Haizel, a self-styled businessman is accused of defrauding by false pretences, while Kwabena Owusu Sekyere and Albert Sedzro are respondents who stood surety for the suspect and granted him bail upon his arrest last year.
It is gathered that on the 18th day of August 2018 the accused person was arrested but granted police bail in the sum of GHC60, 000 with two sureties in the persons of Kwabena Owusu Sekyere of HNO3 New Bortiano, Accra and Albert Sedzro HNO 23 Born Again, Taifa, Accra for defrauding by false pretences and issue of false cheques.
According to the police, the suspect jumped bail ever since as he failed to report as was directed by police investigators. They were hauled before the court on Thursday February 6, 2020 for the offence of fraud.
The suspect was said to have gone into hiding and his whereabouts till date unknown and all attempts to get the sureties produce him also proved futile.
Inspector Frank Oppong Asante of the Nima Division of the Ghana Police Service who is the person in charge of the case in his affidavit, is demanding that the bail bond be extracted and the sureties held accountable. None of the persons were in court when the case was called.
