The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Krachi East, Francis Okesu, has been confirmed dead after the police broke into his hotel room in Ejisu and found his lifeless body
The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Krachi East, Francis Okesu, has been found dead in a hotel room in Ejisu following a visit to the Ashanti Region, party officials have confirmed.
Speaking to Kwaku Nhyira-Addo on The Asaase Breakfast Show, Musah Seidu, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) communications officer, said: “We woke up this morning to hear the shocking news of the death of Kofi Okesu, MCE for Krachi East.”
“Preliminary reports we are getting indicate that he left Krachi East to Kumasi on Friday to attend a meeting on Saturday. He closed from the meeting around 1pm and returned to his hotel room at Ejisu.
“On Sunday, (4 September) his driver, personal assistant tried to reach him in the morning, but to no avail. So, it started raising suspicion till 3pm until management of the hotel were contacted. They also made contact to the Ghana Police Service and they came to break into his room only to find him dead,” Seidu said.
Seidu told Asaase News that the MCE was not on official assignment when the incident occurred.
“For now, the information we have now is that the meeting is a private one, because all the MMDCEs are in their respective districts,” Seidu added.
Until his appointment as MCE, Okesu was the constituency secretary for Krachi East Constituency.
