DETAILS of person killed in Yendi renewed attacks REVEALED

One person has been confirmed dead and two others arrested after sporadic shooting at Yendi on Thursday night during curfew hours, MyNewsGh.com has confirmed from the police.

The body of deceased person identified as Hassan Gadafi a staff of Audit Service in Tamale believed to be mid-30s has been desposited at the Yendi Government Hospital morgue for preservation after he was confirmed dead by health officials at the facility.

According to the police account, at about 9:25Pm during the curfew as the rituals were about to commence at the Gbewaa palace in line with the customs and traditions on the enskinment of the newly selected Yaa-Naa, there were sudden sporadic shootings in the presence of security from unknown gun men from an abandoned house located a few meters away from the main Gbewaa palace where the rites were being performed.

Security personnel on ground returned fire towards the said direction and pursued the shooters inside the building after police and military had surrounded it.

Two men were however arrested with an AK 47 assault rifle and one unidentified man believed to be in his 35th year was also found died in the compound of said house where the firing was coming from.

The arrested men have since refused to disclose their identities to police

This comes at the back of the successful initiation of New Ya-Naa Alhaj Abukari Mahama II as the overlord of Dagbon following the performance of the final funeral rites of Ya-Naa Mahamadu Abdulai IV and Ya-Naa Yakubu Andani II.
