Three people have been arrested for the killing of the police sergeant who was shot and killed while he was escorting a bullion van at Sefwi Asempanye in the Sefwi Wiawso area of the Western North Region.

ACP Peter Alabi, the Divisional Police Commander for Sefwi Wiawso broke the news of the arrest on Adom FM‘s morning show ‘Dwaso Nsem’ Wednesday.\

He said the arrested persons were currently in police custody, assisting with investigations into the murder.

The slain officer, General Sergeant Emmanuel Chikodoh, was killed Tuesday morning [December 3, 2019] when the team he was escorting came under attack at Sefwi Asempanye.

They were said to be heading for the Essam branch of the ADB bank when they were attacked by two armed men.

The attackers, he noted, were holding pump-action guns at the outskirt of 290, a community near Sefwi Asempaneye.

ACP Peter Alabi said the late police officer who has been in the service for the past 16 years was very committed to his work.

He confirmed that there was no money in the van at the time of the attack.
