Bekwai cell break: Police pick up one escapee

One of two suspects who escaped from police cell has been captured by police in the Bekwai Municipality of the Ashanti Region, authorities have confirmed.

The suspect, 24-year-old Emmanuel Ackah, on 4 March escaped with another inmate during a cleanup activity at the facility.

The suspect was, however, rearrested at his hideout in Bekwai on Sunday 7 March, according to the police.

Ackah escaped on the eve of his sentencing over a charge of defilement. He will be arraigned in court 9 March 2021, the police said.
