Audio: Macho men warned against violence in Ayawaso West Wuogon

The Ghana Police Service has issued a warning to heavily built men if they allow themselves to use by political parties to cause trouble.

The Greater Accra Regional Operations Commander, Chief Superintendent Kwesi Ofori who disclosed this on Adom FM’s Morning Show “Dwaso Nsem” Thursday said such people will be made to face the full rigour of the law if caught.

“Macho men who are used to cause violence on Election Day should dare not come to Ayawaso because we are on high alert for such people. They should desist from any chaos and not be used by any political party leaders” he warned.

Chief Supt Kwesi Ofori also revealed that, the movement of motorbikes in the Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency during the by-election period has been banned.

The ban, according to him is to safeguard peace in the area and prevent the use of motorbikes to commit crimes such as the snatching of ballot boxes.

He said some police personnel and Ghana Immigration Service have also been deployed to report and also monitor the security atmosphere given to them by EC.

The electorate in the Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency will on Thursday, 31 January 2019, elect a new Member of Parliament to replace the late Emmanuel Kyeremanteng Agyarko.

The by-election is being held despite a lawsuit by the NDC Constituency Chairman against the EC challenging the January 31, 2018 date set by the Electoral Commission for the by-election.
