Kofi Ampoma, the deceased

A Unit Committee Chairman at Adomfe in the Asante Akyem South District of the Ashanti region has been narrating the circumstances that led to the murder of a 33-year-old driver, Kofi Ampoma, popularly known as ‘Barluso’.

Mr Addai Nketia, who claimed to have witnessed the incident on Tuesday, October 15, 2019, said about six police officers from the Konongo Division came to the area to arrest a lady they suspected sells marijuana at her pub.

But, after the failed operation, he said the police accosted the deceased who was on his way home.

In an interview on Adom FM’s morning show, Dwaso Nsem, Friday, Mr Nketia added that the deceased challenged the officers for wrongful arrest.

He said during the altercation one of the men hit the suspect with a machete and he fell on his car.

He said one of the unidentified policemen also allegedly started firing multiple warning shots to deter people from approaching the scene.

The Adomfe Unit Committee Chairman claimed the deceased was mishandled and beaten mercilessly which resulted in his death.

Mr Nketia added that, the lifeless body of Mr Ampoma showed deep cuts on his head, neck, upper lip and back.
