Indian businessman Umpakan Chodri who was kidnapped in Kumasi on Thursday has been rescued by Ashanti Regional Police Command.
The businessman was kidnapped by some unknown persons.
Three unidentified men on board an unregistered Toyota Salon vehicle seized Umpakan Chodri at gunpoint, forced him into their vehicle at Ahodwo in Kumasi and sped off.
They are reported to have demanded five hundred thousand dollars as a ransom for his release.

The Spokesperson for the Ashanti Regional Police, ASP Godwin Ahianyo who confirmed his rescue to Citi News a while ago, would not give further details but said they have mounted a search for the kidnappers who are currently at large.
This incident comes in the wake of the abduction case involving some three girls in Takoradi.

The anxious families of three girls have spent the last few months demanding urgency from the CID but officials have asked the families to remain steadfast as they continue investigations.
The girls, Ruth Quayson, Priscilla Blessing Bentum and Priscilla Koranchie are believed to have been kidnapped between August 2018 and January 2019.
The main suspect in the kidnapping, Sam Udoetuk Wills is currently before a court after he escaped from jail in December 2018 following his first arrest.
Over the period, residents in the metropolis have voiced concern over the pace of the investigations.
Some groups have held protests and also petitioned the President and the Sekondi Regional Coordinating Council over the case.
